Cringer!

Updated my lunchbox again, sorry Pennywise. If you can’t tell I’m on this big motu(Masters of the Universe)kick. First time #drawing #Cringer, I have to pat myself on the back for this. J/K

Flow Art

I wanted to improve my painting by doing something different, I got inspired by Morgan Daniell, she’s amazing. if you get the chance go check out her page. https://m.facebook.com/artworkbymorgandaniell/

I think I might do more in the future, do the flow as a base and do a drawing on top of it, last night was a test run, fun but very messy.

Go, Go, Power Rangers!

I always love going into a comic book shop and finding a blank cover and I’m like, this is my time to shine. Power Rangers where always my nephews jam, I thought I was too old for it and I think I was thirteen when they first started airing on television but I always caught myself watching it with my nephew. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I think I’m going to go back to the comic shop and get the blank yellow cover of the Power Rangers comic. It’s fun to draw something different, I’m always drawing Batman.

Five years ago yesterday

This came up on my Facebook feed and I forgot I made this. I thought I sketched this recently, it doesn’t feel like five years, time flies. I always like drawing something out of my wheel house, can’t always draw Batman. I hope to find this peaceful place, maybe one day.

I have the power!

If you couldn’t tell, I’m a huge motu(Masters of the Universe) fan, something about He-Man always brings me back to my childhood that I love. I decided to update my cooler, why you ask? I don’t have a clue, I just love to draw. It’s funny, someone at work told me I ruined my cooler and I said no, I made it better. I’m sorry but I don’t want a boring lunchbox, I think of this as a conversational piece, like hey! That’s Skeletor! Awesome! #drawing #creative #art #artwork #customcooler #heman #beastman #skeletor #mastersoftheuniverse #skeletordrawing #beastmandrawing

The Chicago Marathon Virtual Run

What a strange year 2020 has brought us. When the Chicago Marathon was finally cancelled due to Covid, I told myself no matter what happens, I’m running the marathon. The second time running a marathon was a big wake up call for me because it hurt. I’ve done races where there wasn’t much of a crowd but when you run the Chicago Marathon you feel the energy, you feel the crowd of people cheering you on. I received a few text messages saying good luck, you can do it but it would’ve been nice to see that in person.

I was making good strides the second time around, I felt like I was going to beat my time from last year. That all changed when I got to the 15 mile marker, it felt like someone jumped out of the woods with a baseball bat and whacked me across the knees saying not today. I couldn’t run anymore I was in so much pain that I had to walk the rest of the way. I felt defeated but I kept telling myself I have to finish and it took me over six hours but I did it.
Now that I ran two different types of marathons, I know what to expect and I’m crazy enough to say this, I can’t wait to run another marathon next year. Thank you for all the love and support. 🙏🏼👍

Happy Birthday Harley 😢

I’m going to keep this short because I’m having a hard time writing this. I wanted to wish my baby girl Happy Birthday! This was the first time in a long time that I didn’t buy you a birthday sweater and it breaks my heart thinking about it. I know you and Max are watching over us, October 19th will always have a special place in my heart. ❤️

Restoring old pictures

1. I love fun finding pictures of my mom.

2. Might have a little wear and tear but that happens over time.
3. Can I fix this picture? 🤷🏽‍♂️

I thought this would be a challenge but it didn’t come out too bad. The color correction was the easiest to do, had a little challenge with restoring the wall but I think the hardest part was removing the creases on my mother face. I won’t get into all the details but thank god for photoshop.

Landscape painting (2003)

My favorite painting. I didn’t know what to paint for my class and my teacher gave me the freedom to paint whatever I want. When you are staring off into the distance, something will give you a bolt of inspiration. Not really, haha! I just looked out the 2nd floor window and started painting.

Self Portrait (2002)

It’s been a while, I don’t know where to start so here goes. I remember painting this for my final and my teacher asked me what do you see and I said peace, my teacher was like why? Where do you see that? He said it was all dark, gloomy and depressing. I told him when I play my guitar, I’m at peace plus I told him it was my painting and that is what I see and feel. I was very surprised when he said that to me, I figure for being a painter himself you can interpret the artwork how ever you want. He was great painter but I don’t think he knew how to teach, there was a lot of things we disagreed on and it discouraged me from continuing on to the next painting class or paint for really long time.

I love you Max.

I'm so happy that I have these moments but it also makes me sad that you're not here to be our snuggle buddy. It brought me joy that you found Tracy and told her to take you home. Thank you for lighting up our hearts, We love you monkey ❤😢

Speed Drawing Challenge

My friend sent me a link to a speed drawing challenge, I always like drawing quick warm-up sketches, but I never timed them before.

The rules are simple – each artist picks their favorite character and sketch it three times by hand in 10 minutes, 1 minute, and 10 seconds. Push your limits and see what you can come up with.

A fun little exercise for any artist.

Break it Down!

Probably my biggest weakness, #drawing #hands and #fingers. I never can draw hands right, hopefully this will help.

If I'm drawing hands, I might as well sketch out some eyes. I'm not bad at drawing eyes but there's room for improvement.
